Who we are

Ask Siya is operated by Ryze Group (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/367202/07), a company registered in South Africa, trading as Ask Siya. Ryze Group (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

Account details you give us — your name or display name, email address, password credentials handled by our authentication provider, and the preferences you set (favourite teams and leagues, stake defaults, notification choices).

Usage data from cookies and similar technology — pages viewed, picks and features used, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and the campaign or link that brought you here.

Who we share it with

We share personal information with the following recipients:

• Google (Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager) — site measurement and understanding how the site is used.
• Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel) — advertising measurement and audience building.
• Supabase — hosting of account data and authentication.

These providers operate globally, so your personal information may be processed outside South Africa, including in the United States and the European Union. We rely on the transfer safeguards those providers put in place under their own terms.

Why advertising cookies exist

Advertising cookies let us measure which advertising brings people to the site, so we can stop paying for advertising that does not work. They are only set if you switch Advertising on in the cookie banner. Necessary cookies — the ones that keep you signed in and remember your preferences — always apply, because the site cannot function without them.

Analytics and Session Recording

We use analytics tools to understand how people use Ask Siya so we can improve it. These tools are only activated after you accept cookies. If you decline, they do not run.

What we collect. Pages you visit and the order you visit them in; which picks you view and interact with; clicks on links to bookmaker websites; your approximate location; your device type, browser and screen size; and the website or advertisement that brought you here.

Session recording. We record how users move through the site — mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and page navigation — so we can see where people get stuck. Everything you type into a form field is masked before it leaves your browser: we never see your password, email address, payment details or any other text you enter. Recordings are not linked to your identity unless you are signed in.

Who processes this. PostHog Inc. processes this data on our behalf, on servers in Frankfurt, Germany. Google and Meta receive advertising and measurement data as described elsewhere in this policy. We do not sell your information to anyone.

Where your information goes. Because our analytics servers are located in the European Union, your information is transferred outside South Africa. The EU's data protection laws provide protection substantially similar to POPIA, as required by section 72 of that Act.

How long we keep it. Analytics data is retained for twelve months, after which it is automatically deleted. Session recordings are retained for one month.

Your choices. You can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie settings link in the site footer, which stops all further collection. You may also request that we delete the analytics data associated with you by emailing hello@asksiya.co.za.

Withdrawing consent

You can change or withdraw your advertising consent at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer of every page. When you withdraw consent we delete the advertising identifiers stored in your browser and stop sharing measurement data with Google and Meta for advertising purposes.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept for as long as your account is open and for 12 months after you delete it, so we can meet legal, tax and dispute-resolution obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Usage and analytics data is retained for up to 14 months from collection.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you;
• have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected;
• have your information deleted or destroyed;
• object to the processing of your information; and
• lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa, at inforegulator.org.za or complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.

You can export or delete your account yourself from settings at any time, or email us and we will action the request.

Over-18s only

Ask Siya is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
